Kyphi 12 takes the wearer on a resinous, timeworn and primeval journey that captures the aroma of artisanal incense crafted by the ancient Egyptians. Burning of incense was a ritual practiced in ancient Egypt which consisted of burning frankincense, myrrh and kyphi—the latter being the most revered of all. Ancient Egyptians produced the infamous Kyphi using different recipes—some consisted of around twelve primary ingredients while others up to fifty. Kyphi 12 is our take on this iconic and treasurable piece of history.
The opening of Kyphi 12 reveals a sticky, syrupy mix of resins at the heart of which is myrrh and labdanum, enveloped in smoke and fume. As the smoke fades, what unveils is a sensual multi-layered cocoa accord; the sophisticated scent profile of this accord earns the scent an element of boldness. The dry-down of Kyphi 12 includes notes of oud, musk, sandalwood, smoky birch, sweet amber and an array of spices.
